The difference is plenty obvious to the savvy business owner. One is going to cost a whole lot more than the other. But let me challenge you: which one is which?

In their most basic state, websites are marketing tools. They work internationally, 24/7 to generate interest, inquiries and business. Therefore a website that sends a lot of traffic is more much valuable than one that does not.

Okay. So can your relative or friend website hobbyist create a site that will look and work as well as a professional web designer? For the sake of argument, let’s say they can.

Now the website has been built- is it showing up in search engines? Can people find you easily?  What about security? Is it being updated frequently? Do you have any power over what it shows? Can you update pictures, content, etc…?

You should be asking yourself all this and more when researching your website investment. How much do you value professionalism, customization, convenience and reliability?
